Have questions about the SaludSchools Dental Program? Look through our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below. If you still have questions, ask us on our CONTACT US page.

What is the SaludSchools Dental Program?

Salud has partnered with schools, Head Start, and afterschool programs to bring quality dental care in community settings!

Salud’s dental staff will provide dental services, which may include: dental screenings, fluoride varnish, sealant application, cleanings, x-rays, and fillings. *Available services vary depending on the participating location.

How much does it cost?

Every child can receive dental services regardless of dental insurance or ability to pay. Salud will bill Medicaid, CHP+ or Delta Dental if the child has that coverage. Families will NOT be charged for any service; this includes waiving copays, deductibles and co-insurances.

My child is not on Medicaid or CHP+, can they still participate?

Yes, all children can receive these services. You will not receive a bill in the mail for these services.

How will this impact my child's classroom time?

On average, a child may miss 10-20 minutes of instructional time depending on the services provided. This is much better than missing a half-day of school due to time away visiting a dental clinic.

How often will my student be seen?

Salud staff will visit up to two times per school year; once in the Fall and again in the Spring. The frequency will depend on what type of dental services are offered at the participating location.

My child already has a dental home, should I still sign up for the program?

Services provided by SaludSchools Dental Program does not affect your child’s current dental home. Children can receive Salud’s school-based services as often as once every six months.

How can I sign up?

Signing up is easy! Go to the ONLINE ENROLLMENT Page to sign up today, or ask your school’s health clerk for a paper enrollment form.

I signed an enrollment form last year; do I need to sign another one?

Yes, Salud requires a new enrollment form every school year in order to participate.

I have multiple children at participating SaludSchools locations, do I need to fill out a separate form for each of them?

Yes, at this time our process requires one enrollment form per child.

What if my child’s school is not listed?

The SaludSchools Dental Program is provided at over 80 schools, Head Start, and afterschool programs across Colorado. Please check the ONLINE ENROLLMENT form for a list of locations Salud serves at this time.
